Hi, I’m Andrew! I’m a 3rd year PhD student at Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute. I work on making robots able to learn and adapt to risk in the wild. I’m particularly interested in how robots can predict and characterize risk, and how we can steer robots to follow our risk-related preferences.

My projects have included firefighting, search and rescue, and agile flight.

Over the years I’ve had the pleasure to work with Dr. Sebastian Scherer and Dr. Katia Sycara.

Mentorship has been a hallmark of my career, having guided over two dozen undergrad to master’s students and four teams from CMU’s Master’s in Systems Robotics Development program.

I previously earned my MS in Robotics from CMU and BS in Computer Science from San Jose State University.

If you’d like to chat, please feel free to shoot me an email.
