Colourlab AI Powers the World’s First On-Device AI Color Grading in the New Honor Magic 8
We are proud to announce that Colourlab AI’s fourth-generation color grading technology is now available in the latest Honor Magic 8 smartphone. Honor has chosen our AI Color Engine to power its flagship phone — and this marks a truly historic milestone for both our company and the future of mobile video.
This is the first-of-its-kind on-device AI color grading for video, processing 4K and HDR content in real time, directly on a mobile phone. No cloud. No waiting. Just cinematic color, instantly.
A Technical Achievement Years in the Making
Getting here was anything but easy. Until now, nobody had been able to accelerate and optimize Gen4 color grading models to run in real time on a mobile device. The compute demands of professional-grade color science — the kind that powers Hollywood productions — were simply too great for the constraints of a phone’s chipset.
Our team changed that.
This is a major engineering achievement and something we’ve been working toward since day one at Colourlab AI. From the very beginning, our mission has been to bring color grading to the masses — to completely democratize what has historically been one of the most difficult and technologically demanding processes in video production. With the Honor Magic 8, that vision is now a reality for users worldwide, available at the touch of a screen.
What’s Next
We’re just getting started. In the weeks and months ahead, we’ll be sharing more developments that are following on the heels of this brand new generation of our AI Color Engine. There’s a lot in the works, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come.
We’re also thrilled to welcome a new partner coming on board — stay tuned for more on the Robophone ARRI collaboration. Watch this space.
And if you want to see it all firsthand, come visit us at NAB. We’ve got a lot more cooking.
