As we enter the final month of the year, I predict one trend will continue in IT hiring in Thailand. Demand for Software Engineering talent will remain robust. There’s been plenty of noise about AI replacing developers and a global slowdown in tech hiring, but on the ground, in Thailand at least, demand is still there. Software roles have once again been True Blue’s most in-demand area this year, accounting for 40% of all roles we’ve filled. Here’s why demand is holding steady: 🧩 Digital products keep expanding. Fintech, e-commerce and SaaS companies are still building new features, platforms and mobile experiences — all requiring deep engineering capability. 🏗️ Legacy systems are being rebuilt. Banks and enterprises continue to modernise older systems, driving strong demand for backend, full-stack and API-focused engineers. 🤖 AI still relies on engineering fundamentals. Even with rapid automation, companies need engineers to integrate AI tools, build pipelines and maintain stable architecture. The boom years after COVID have definitely passed, but based on our conversations with clients, the signals for 2026 are clear, demand for top engineers is still strong. Skill sets may evolve, but great engineers will remain at the centre of Thailand’s digital growth. I didn’t plan on building a successful offshore talent platform. It sort of happened by itself. When we started our software agency, finding good engineers locally was almost impossible. Every project felt like a scramble just to meet deadlines. Out of necessity, we began hiring offshore, first in Taiwan, then Vietnam. Those hires changed everything. They were talented, fast, and reliable, and before long, our distributed team was outperforming many of the local teams we’d worked with before. Then friends started reaching out. They were struggling with the same problem and asked if I could help. I was happy to oblige and did it free of charge. The requests kept coming. And at one point, a friend said, “Dude, you should really charge for this.” That conversation became the starting point for Second Talent. Two years later, what began as a side effort has grown into a 40-person company operating across nine Asian markets. We’re still bootstrapped, still profitable, and still guided by the same principle that started it all: solve your own problem, then help others do the same.
